After a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Washington DC, we arrived at Dewey Beach in Delaware just after 11:00 PM on Friday night, having made a pit stop for dinner. The drive was smooth, and we highly recommend stopping in Annapolis on the way back—a charming town worth exploring. We checked into the Hyatt Place, situated right on the small beach, though next time we might opt for a more budget-friendly Airbnb given our reliance on a car for most outings.

The Hyatt Place offered a fantastic location for nightlife, with late-night pizza spots and packed bars catering to a lively crowd aged 20-30. The only perk of being right on the beach was the early morning or late-night walks with our dogs. On our first full day, we met a friend with a house in Ocean City and took his boat to Seacrets, an outrageously fun place with tables in the water, boat shuttles, and multiple dance floors. Don't miss the Orange Crush, a local staple.

After Seacrets, we Ubered to Dewey Beach and partied until about 2:00 AM. On Sunday, we surfed at the state park south of Dewey Beach, enjoying the gorgeous beach and decent waves. The water was a bit chilly but manageable. We grabbed some fish tacos and oysters at the outdoor restaurants, where dogs were unofficially welcome as long as they were respectful. That evening, we watched a stunning sunset over the bay and then headed to Rehoboth for more oysters and people-watching. Dinner was at the Dogfish Head brewery, famous for its $15 lobsters every Sunday night. We returned home on Monday, stopping in Annapolis for one last seafood feast.
